I love me too. Unfortunately they don't mix too well with E90's but if I ever get an E39 I know what wheels I'll be putting on.

Yeah IMO they only work well on 80's to 00's BMW's.

a 740i wouldn't be that bad. Plenty of my 540i/6 friends have well over 150k on their cars with little drama.

the e38's have a lot more electrical and other BS things that go wrong, I have read they are a lot more unreliable than an e39.

if I could find a nice enough E38 I'd still go for it. Plenty of DIY's up to help me save on the cost.

I already have an e23, I think I'm done with 7 series cars after this. If I do buy another BMW it'll be an E39 M5

Good choice, when I'm done with my E90 I either want to move up to an older 911, E39 M5, or an E90 M3.

I just want an older BMW "project" to keep myself happy and stop me from buying something too impractical.

nooo, no 745i's had manuals. Unless I had the perfect parts car fall into my lap, its not economical for me to hunt down all the parts either
